Kellan Lutz comes out to celebrate JustJared.com founder Jared Eng‘s 30th birthday held at Pink Taco Sunset Strip on Friday (March 23) in Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old Twilight star joined the 30-year-old birthday blogger for his big bash, along with Glee guys Chord Overstreet, Mark Salling, and Harry Shum, Jr.

How does a guy from a small town in North Dakota get interested in fashion?
You just want to explore every avenue there is to be creative. You explore your imagination, because there’s not so much to do. I started out modeling at a young age and surrounded myself with different brilliant minds. I have so many people to get educated from, and I’ve been a sponge. That’s how the collection came about—it’s always been a goal of mine.
What did you learn about the fashion industry from modeling?
What I’ve learned from different designers is that it’s key to be true to who you are and your vision. That’s always been my line of thinking. Working through the whole design process, I don’t want to create something I wouldn’t be proud to wear. I’ve always been a fan of the people who endorse their own product, and you can tell when something is really that person. That’s the key concept.
What’s your personal style like?
I’m an easy going guy. I lived on a farm in Iowa. I like comfortable articles of clothing, fabrics that breath, something you can move around in. Things you can wear from daytime to night. I’m a jeans and t shirt kind of a guy. Great fits, comfy fabrics… and simplicity is key.
What’s the biggest fashion faux pas you’ve ever made?
You really learn from your mistakes. You learn when things just don’t work. You look at yourself and think, “What was I thinking that day?” My most recent moment is white board shorts. They can be quite, um, revealing.

KELLAN JOBBAR PÅ ATT RÄDDA OSKYLDIGA BARN!
Kellan Lutz was just one of the many stars who stepped out to fight child sex trafficking at the Saving Innocence event this week. The Twilight hunk, who have been actively supporting the non-profit organization, spoke passionately about cause.
“Unfortunately, child sex trafficking is far more common in the United States than people realize,” he said. “As a society, we all need to stand up to actively protect the innocence of our children.”

Wetpaint Entertainment: What made you want to design a collection?
Kellan: Growing up in the modeling industry, I’ve always been closely connected to the fashion world. When I was living on the cross streets of Abbot Kinney & Main Street, where the name of the line comes from, I was surrounded by all types of people, cultures, and colors and I wanted to share that with others in the line. I guess you could say I wanted to bring my home in Venice Beach to life.
WE: You model, act, and now you design. Which do you like to do the best?
Kellan: Well I started as a model, moved into acting, and now I’ve returned back to the fashion world. I’m not sure I can pick a favorite, but I can say I love being creative and finding different avenues to explore it.

WE: The world just got its first look at Kristen Stewart as a vampire. Was it weird filming with her once she made the transition? Did she act different?
Kellan: Kristen [Stewart] makes an amazing vampire! She brought so much life to her human portrayal of Bella and even more when she transitioned into Bella the vampire. She seemed to enjoy being a vampire like all of us do. I really enjoyed shooting Emmett and Bella’s arm-wrestling scene!
WE: You and Ashley Greene play lovers in your new movie Warriors. After playing her brother for so long, what was it like to play her love interest?
Kellan: Acting is acting… It was a blessing to have Ashley [Greene] play my love interest. It’s so nice to have someone to act with who you’re already close to. We’ve been friends for years, so it made it feel like a hangout session.

GQ: How was it working with the likes of Alexander Skarsgård and David Simon on Generation Kill?
Kellan: Well, for me that was really a different pedigree. It was a world away. I matured so much more as a man. Working with Alex and James Ransone and Lee Tergesen, all these really cool, great actors, who I got to learn a lot from. I learned a lot from working with the real recon marines and my brother’s in the marine corps so it really brought us closer. I’m so happy I was a part of it.
GQ: You’re a regular at New York Fashion Week and you have your own clothing line Abbot+Main. What have the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Simon Spurr taught you about style?
Kellan: I’m very blessed to have designers who are friends who I can call up and ask, “Hey, what do you think about this?” or, “What do you think is the new thing that’s going to be coming out in 2013?” Simon Spurr’s a good buddy of mine as is Bernardo Rojo at Joseph Abboud. It’s really great to pick their brains and ask them questions. I’m like a sponge: I absorb everything they have to show and tell and see what they’re working on and get inspiration and take that back.
GQ: Did you have any favourite looks from the shows?
Kellan: I loved Joseph Abboud’s tuxes and what Simon and Tommy did with military. I’m big on military so I liked the structure of the tops.
GQ: You looked very sharp in your dinner suit at the amFar gala [pictured]…
Kellan: That was actually one of the first times that I’ve worn a bow tie. I’ve very seldom worn one; I just love a straight black tie. But as far as doing black tie well goes, I think less is always more. I even have to call myself out on this: I’ve put too many touches on, maybe at the time I thought it looked great, but when you step back you think, “Wow, this is trying way too hard.” Just be yourself, fit in and if you’re wearing too much, put it all on and take one piece off.

KELLAN PRATAR OM GLÄDJEN FÖR KLÄDER
“It’s all about the material, the softness,” he tells PEOPLE. “Growing up, I would go shopping and instead of looking at the colors or brand, I’d go to different stores, find the circular racks and I’d walk around them with my hand out, without looking at the shirts. Once I found one that felt good on my hand, I’d stop to see if I liked it.”
Lutz brings that passion for all things cozy to his Abbot + Main by Dylan George collection, which debuted in August. “For spring, it’s all about staying true to Los Angeles, and incorporating hues from neons to rich, saturated shades of blue,” he shares of the latest offerings. “The last couple of years have been about earthy tones, and I want to bring back the happiness, the color in what you’re wearing.”
The Twilight star entered the business as a model, and says he learned a lot from the designers he worked for. “It’s nice to come full-circle and get back into the fashion world,” he shares. And because of his experience, he now has friends coming to him, asking for advice on what to wear — and he’s able to steer them toward Abbot + Main.
“It’s fun to wear it out, have people ask where you got it, and then tell them your story,” he says. But guys don’t have to be as buff as the athletic star to wear the clothes; Lutz says the line is “built for anyone.” There are tops and pants for women, too, which Lutz is particularly excited about.
“I know what I like seeing girls in, but obviously I’m not a girl,” he explains. “So I have a great team to help me take the looks I love and help me create them.” (Expect to see another round of ads for the collection, this time with Sports Illustrated cover girl Kate Upton, this spring).

"JAG HAR TUR ATT JAG INTE ÄR LIKA STOR SOM R-PATTZ"
The American actor, who starred alongside R-Pattz in the vampire franchise, says he feels fortunate not to have the pressure that he, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart have.
He exclusively told omg!: “Rob, Kristen and Taylor are top tier and all eyes are on them. Now everyone’s looking to see what they’ll do afterwards.
“For the rest of us we kind of did all the press but had none of the pressure.”
Rob recently revealed he felt he’d be nothing without Twilight. But Kellan, who played the role of Emmett Cullen in Twilight, told us: “I don’t feel typecast at all. I feel very fortunate.”
Kellan, who started his career as a model, is currently spending lots of his time on his fashion range.
He told us: “I’m really focused on my clothing line. I was in New York for Fashion Week just hanging out with my peers in the fashion world and looking at them for inspiration.
“I love fashion, I started out modelling. My education is in the fashion world.”
And the 26-year-old made his movie mark away from Twilight in last year’s big movie Immortals.
